It all started when my friend and I decided to have an early dinner at Punto Alto restaurant. The restaurant is located at the entrance of Tripoli in a very nice natural area, on a high hill facing the Mediterranean sea.
Punto Alto is a perfect dining destination for all Italian food lovers.
The trip to the restaurant took few minutes as it is so close to our house. When we arrived to the restaurant, the receptionist welcomed us with a warm smile and guided us to our table.
We were amazed by the luxurious decoration of the place as we directly noticed the valuable white and black drawings on the walls, along with the huge fancy chandeliers, and plant pots hanging down from the ceiling.
The menu offers a wide variety of items including appetizers, salads, pizza, pasta, risotto, signature chicken plates, and veal.
Before ordering anything, we were offered mouth watering freshly-baked bread with authentic Italian olives.
For the appetizer, we selected the onion rings with the creamy cocktail sauce. The onion rings were brown and crispy and the sauce complimented them just perfectly.
We also ordered the Punto Exotic Salad with Punto mustard sauce. It was fairly good with loads of cabbage topped by baby corn, fresh mushroom, artichoke hearts, and asparagus. The quantity of the cabbage was too much and I would have prefered if it was less in favor of the other vegetables. Also the other vegetables such as the tomato and the cucumber should have been chopped into smaller pieces.
Finally, we ordered Pepperoncini Pizza and Chicken Avocado as main course.
The Pepperoncini Pizza, topped with fresh rocket leaves and special spicy pepperoncini sauce, was extremely luscious. The crust was perfectly baked and its thickness was spot on. The cheese layer was extremely generous and juicy. I will definitely order it again next time i visit Punto Alto.
The chicken avocado with cream was also really good. The generous portion of chicken is served with broasted potato cubes along with veggie salad. The avocado pieces were very fresh, but they were overcooked for my taste. The chicken was very tender and cooked with precision. The overall taste of this dish was very homogenous and creamy with a perfect flavor.
It was a really pleasant dining experience highlighted by the amazing decoration, freshness of all the vegetables, low prices for huge portions (we ended up paying about 50$ for all of this), and friendliness of the staff but it was slightly ruined by the high temperature of the food (as we had to wait a few minutes to safely start devouring the delicious plates) and our waiter’s lack of knowledge in the menu (to be fair he seemed to be new).
If you ever go to Tripoli, this restaurant is a must! Highly recommended!
