Avec les other foodies, I have been invited to the trial of the new items on the menu of the notorious Deek Duke, to cut the story short, and despite the best intentions, care, thoughtfulness and sweetness of the organizers (wink at Ghenwa), it was too rushed, at least for an old connoisseur like me who like to take the time to taste and appreciate food. That said, I had tasted enough to know some of the new items presented were exceptional… Therefore, I have decided to come back again, with my wife on a busy day so I could really chew slowly each bite and savor the rich taste to my liking.

So I did, last Sunday, a Sunday… a heavy Sunday during lunch in Le Mall Dbayeh…

There was a waiting list, but the floor supervisor who was welcoming people and managing the seating noticed that we had a baby with us and gave us priority, really thoughtful and kind… things were starting well…

Let me repeat, it was REALLY crowded, however despite that, and since Deek Duke have been promoting its new menu for long enough, I had expected that it’s kitchen staff was more than prepared and ready for rush hours especially on weekends… they were not quite… but here is the catch… despite of what happened, we still enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back again…

Oh wait sorry… I didn’t tell you what happened, forgive me dear readers, the professional staff of Deek Duke did almost make me forget the story… but for all intent and purposes and specifically to be thorough and true to my mission, here goes:

We ordered first “the real deal” which has inside hot n spicy wings, we specified to the waiter that we prefer to have regular and not spicy wings, he told us he will switch them and took note (allow me to insist on the fact that the waiter was extremely polite, friendly and professional), we ordered one “Chicken Hottie” and one “Chicken Ceasar Burger” and 2 mexican beers.

We were already drooling, and talking, then drooling again and doing some more talking, and some more talking, but no more drooling (it dried off of all the talking)…

16 min later… we got our beer! I was honestly disappointed, but again, the way the waiter handled the delay with a kind apology and a touch of humor made us smile again, and we were… again… drooling and … yeah… talking…

It was a real busy day, and it was clear the kitchen was lagging behind the orders…

37 min later, the appetizers arrived, we welcomed them with a cheer of relief… but as the waiter was serving them, he announced that the order came with the spicy wings, however he had ordered an extra serving of regular wings to compensate for the mistake… honestly? It was really fine even if he hadn’t made the extra order, his sincere apology was quite enough, especially that it was obvious they were suffering covering the shortcomings of the kitchen… Two minutes later, our burgers had arrived, we had barely touched our appetizers and were seriously concerned the burgers were gonna be cold by the time we got to them… the waiter sensed our distress and without us having to ask, he immediately took them back with him…

Don’t let all the above give you any bad idea about Deek Duke, the wings were perfect, the skewers were heavenly, the cheese balls were out of this world, The chicken tenders were heart stopping and the coated halloumi sticks was what finished us in what was later described as: “a glorious foodgasmic climax…”

It really tasted great… suddenly all the minutes spent waiting for the food were a long gone souvenir…

The burgers came back!!! Hello!!!

I had the “hottie” for myself believe you me, I’m a fan of hot spicy food, and that baby didn’t disappoint, while (on a totally personal level) I would’ve liked it even more hot… I mean… who doesn’t like his baby hot…

For some reason, my wife didn’t like her “Chicken Ceasar” but that was in all honesty and fairness what I call “personal taste”… there was nothing wrong with the burger and having tasted it before, I know it’s a good yummy burger, not nearly as yummy though as the “Hottie” truth be told… but wait… ohhhh… the regular wings just arrived to save the day, and my wife was happy again…

Here’s the surprise though: the manager noticed my wife wasn’t enjoying her burger and came to enquire… she answered that she didn’t quite like it but all the rest was super extra yum and the wings did the job… we complained a bit about the delay… however the manager handled it perfectly (wink @Hany) despite all the crowd, he took the time to listen to us and hear our comments.

The way the staff handled our lunch experience was the reason why we enjoyed the meal, hats off as well to the chefs and cooks in the kitchen for delivering such good food, however a lot has to be made to keep up with the heavy demand during rush times…
We will definitely come back to enjoy more Deek Duke Goodness and I recommend those who didn’t try the new menu yet not to wait any further…

Chicken lovers… the Den is open to the wolves… FEAST!!!
