… So you mean to say that you have no idea what this voucher is… but you’re pretty sure it is not valid during weekends…? I asked flabbergasted…

Wait… Let’s rewind a bit so you get a sense of context of what is about to unfold…

A bit over two weeks ago, we were invited to the grand opening of “The Village” Dbayeh, it was an awesome event, well planned, well presented… you could feel a professional team behind it… As part of the event, we had received a goody bag from “The Village” welcoming committee, inside which we had, among other things, a voucher invitation for two persons to “Escobar”…

Yesterday, my friend and I decided to use that voucher, and so we called Escobar to let them know we were coming as courtesy, I also wanted to make sure what it included…

-Hello, is This Escobar?

-Yes, I’m the manager, how may I help you? (So far so good)

-I have a voucher to be redeemed at your place, I only needed to know what it entailed before we come tonight…

– Ok Listen, I have no idea what this voucher is… but I’m pretty sure it’s not valid during the weekends…

In a split second I thought “wait what? Nothing about the weekend is mentioned on the voucher”

Pablo Escobar

– So you mean to say that you have no idea what this voucher is… but you’re pretty sure it is not valid during weekends…? I asked flabbergasted…

-Well, you can come tonight if you really want to, but you will have to leave by 9 Pm he replied with assurance…

My anger shot in my body like an electric bolt…

-Thank you I’d rather not come at all… “Click” I hung up…

I couldn’t believe the short conversation I just had with the manager of Escobar as I was recapping it in my head… I mean… How do reputable establishments hire people so rude and so unprofessional…

It was as much a slap in my face as it was for “The Village” management who extended that invitation to us in the first place…

In an effort to maximize the profit of “Escobar”, the manager refused to host us on a weekend, because of course, we would take the place of paying customers…

You might be busy during the Weekend, Escobar, but guess what, we are busy all over the week…

I guess you did not think of the potential customers you would lose in the future, starting with myself, our group of foodies, and the many many friends we are going to share our experience with…

Just a reminder of how a good manager should have behaved, read our previous review on:
